Tablet App

This is the block diagram of a typical mobile or tablet application. It is a battery powered device, so saving power wherever possible is necessary to get the longest battery life. However, even by selecting the lowest power components, the combined standby current of this many devices may consume a significant amount of power. The ultimate power savings method is often to simply turn off, or disconnect the devices when they are not needed. For example, a phone typically has transceivers for cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. As all of these RF modules are rarely used at the same time, load switches can be used to disable those that are not needed. In the same way, the LCD display, the LED backlight and the touchscreen controller are not used when the device is being held to the head as a phone. Load switches can disable these devices. Additionally, audio and video functions can be disabled when not needed.
