Thanks to the wide supply range, wide current sense range and I/Os available, the LT2940 is suitable for many different types of applications. From simple power and current monitoring for boards and servers to various metering-type applications, users will find the differential sense inputs just as useful as the auxiliary comparator and current-mode outputs in accomplishing what would otherwise require multiple components. The case-cooling application here shows the LT2940 controlling a fan if the total power input to the distributed power supplies goes above 100W.
