LT2940-Slide4

This slide takes a deeper look at the LT2940’s four-quadrant analog multiplier. The table shown here summarizes the essential operating parameters of the inputs and outputs over which power and current accuracy are guaranteed, over the 4V to 80V operating range. The graph shows the input operating ranges where accuracy is guaranteed. Both the voltage and current sense input have the ability to handle mild over range conditions, with some loss of accuracy, as illustrated by the shaded region of the graph. The heavy line circumscribing the guaranteed accuracy region is limited by the product of the inputs (curved edges) and the inputs themselves (straight edges). In the shaded region, multiplying still occurs, but with derated accuracy. This shaded functional region offers headroom beyond the guaranteed range in all quadrants. Inputs beyond these ranges are clipped, assuring predictable output behavior for any input condition within the limits of the absolute maximum ratings.
