This application circuit shows the LT3518 driving three 1.5A LEDs in a buck configuration with inputs as high as 24V. This circuit offers a simple means to dim the LED string with up to a 3,000:1 dimming ratio. In general, this current range is sufficient for many industrial applications driving three to five 1.5A LEDs such as those used in inspection lighting. These high current LEDs are connected in series to insure that each LED gets the same current, thereby offering uniform brightness. The simplicity of the design circuit requires very few external components.
