Until recently, the L6470 was the monolithic solution featuring the voltage mode, the L6472 was the monolithic solution for the current mode. However, a monolithic solution is limited to 45 V and 3 A. If the application requires higher power, the L6480 will drive the motor in the voltage mode and the L6482 will do so in the current mode. The designer simply needs to choose the appropriate part based on the system requirements.
