Motor run capacitors are specialized film capacitors used with some single-phase electric motors to energize an auxiliary coil or 2nd-phase winding, to maintain a continuous rotational field to run the motor. Unlike motor start capacitors, they operate whenever the motor is running. Motor run capacitors mount on or near the motor, so they must be vibration tolerant.
