Texas Instruments' OPA4310 is a quad-channel low-voltage (1.5 V to 5.5 V) high-output current op amp with rail-to-rail input and output (RRIO) swing capabilities. The OPA4310S also features a very fast shutdown response and has an enable time of 0.9 µs (typical) that allows for power savings when the application involves duty-cycling the amp signal chain. The amp has a robust ESD performance with a failsafe input ESD structure where there are no diodes that are connected from the inputs to the positive power-supply rail. The OPA4310 is offered in power pad, standard, and small-size package variants. The internal current limit and thermal shutdown protections enable additional robustness when it is operating with high output current.
The OPA4310 can swing very close to the rails and has a short-circuit current of 75 mA (minimum) across the temperature range at a 5.5 V power supply. Additional output current capability can be achieved by carefully connecting multiple op amps in parallel. The OPA4310 device is an excellent choice for LED drivers, LCD drivers, laser drivers, and TEC drivers applications, as well as being used as a reference buffer, guard amplifier, or a discrete LDO. The robust design simplifies the circuit design. The op amp features an integrated RFI and EMI rejection filter with no phase reversal in input overdrive conditions. The op amp delivers excellent AC performance with a gain bandwidth of 3 MHz and can drive up to 250 pF of a cap load with no sustained oscillations, enabling designers to achieve improved performance and lower power consumption.
