RNAN Thin-Film Chip Resistors

Stackpole thin-film resistors are valued for precision, stability, and performance, but are traditionally limited to lower power ratings. This constraint has made it difficult to apply thin-film technology in higher-power designs that still demand tight tolerances and long-term accuracy. By utilizing an aluminum nitride substrate with significantly higher thermal conductivity, substantially greater power handling can be achieved without sacrificing the precision for which thin-film nichrome resistors are known.

The RNAN series leverages advanced substrate technology to deliver high-power, high-reliability thin-film chip resistors. The series offers exceptional power density with ratings up to 0.5 W in 0603, 1 W in 0805, 2 W in 1206, and 6 W in 2512. These power levels are achieved while maintaining acceptable hot-spot and terminal temperatures, which is difficult to realize with conventional alumina-based high-power chip resistors.
