BA1AAAPC AAA Battery Holder

Memory Protection Devices' BA1AAAPC is an ultra-low-profile battery holder for AAA batteries. Since the battery is even with the underside of the battery holder, it adds no height to a AAA battery, sitting at less than 10.5 mm above the board. Dual printed circuit pins allow quick PCB mounting by wave soldering. Gang multiple units together through the PCB for serial or parallel connectivity, making circuit designing easier.

The holder's body is made using polypropylene, which has high heat-resistance and good stiffness. This type of polypropylene has a Vicat softening temperature of +155°C per ISO-306. It is FDA approved for repeated food contact per 21 CFR 177.1520 and does not support organic growth.

The choice of battery contact is often a price-driven decision. Spring contacts provide a good solution at a lower cost. However, there is a tradeoff regarding the reliability of the electrical connection. Spring-loaded batteries can shift and create an intermittent connection or become dislodged when subjected to shock and vibration. The two pressure contact design is an alternative as they move with the battery to keep constant contact with cells. It passes standard shock, drop, and vibration testing, which gives flexibility in applications, placement, and reliability. Stainless-steel offers a good balance of mechanical characteristics. It is a widely used material and has excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and ductility, plus it resists oxidation at high temperatures. While light in weight at 2.5 grams, the BA1AAAPC is rugged enough for industrial applications.
