Polymer Aluminum Organic (AO-CAP) Capacitors – A700/A720 Series

KEMET A700, A700 Plus Performance, A720 low ESR, and expanded A700 Extended Plus Performance aluminum organic capacitors (AO-CAP) are solid-state capacitors with no liquid electrolyte. The cathode is a conductive organic polymer, which results in very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at a high frequency. AO-CAPs may be operated at steady-state voltages up to 100% of rated voltage without the need to derate. Since there is no liquid electrolyte, they offer long operational lifetimes. The A700 and A720 have 2,000 hours, the A700 Plus Performance has 3,000 hours, and the A700 Extended Plus Performance has 5,000 hours of performance in harsh environments, all while providing low ESR and high operational temperatures. The inherently low ESR renders the A700 and A720 suitable for high ripple current handling. The small package size, high ripple current capability, high operating temperature, low parasitics, and high capacitance make the A700 and A720 ideal for high-performance microprocessor, FPGA, and ASIC decoupling designs.
