XR75100 40 V Synchronous Step-Down COT Controller
MaxLinear offers their XR75100 step-down COT controller in a small QFN16 package
MaxLinear's XR75100 40 V, fast transient response DC/DC step-down controller with no external compensation in a small QFN16 package; enabled by a proprietary emulated current-mode constant-on-time (COT) control loop. It is a synchronous step-down controller for supplies up to 20 A. A wide 5.5 V to 40 V input voltage range allows for single supply operation from industry-standard 12 V, 18 V, 24 VDC/AC and 28 VDC rails. With a proprietary emulated current-mode COT control scheme, the XR75100 provides extremely fast line and load transient response using ceramic output capacitors. It requires no loop compensation, hence simplifying circuit implementation and reducing overall component count.
The XR75100 control loop also provides exceptional line regulation and maintains constant operating frequency. A selectable power-saving mode allows the user to operate in discontinuous mode (DCM) at light current loads, thereby significantly increasing the converter efficiency.
