IS32CS8979 and IS31CS8979 MCUs with LED Driver

The Lumissil IS32CS8979 and IS31CS8979 are automotive and industrial/consumer 8-bit MCUs featuring 64 KB eFlash ECC (error correction code). Both devices are aimed at LED lighting and general-purpose command-control applications and feature an 18-channel LED driver, nine GPIO pins, 20 Gen 3 capacitive-touch sensors, analog/digital control circuitry, and support popular communication protocols.

For LED lighting and command-control applications, the IS32CS8979 and IS31CS8979 onboard Flash can store color animation patterns, LED control firmware, and customize the GPIO pins.

For LED support, the IS32CS8979 and IS31CS8979 feature 60 mA output current with a 40 V tolerance. For multichannel LED flexibility, they support up to 15 additional LED drivers, which are only limited by their code space. Further, to provide a ±4% color accuracy, the LED drivers feature accurate color rendition, a feature capable of a 32-step adjust, 8-bit dot correction, and 8-bit PWM control.

For flexibility, the IS32CS8979 and IS31CS8979 integrate touch sensors configurable for self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance modes. In mutual capacitance, the shield is featured to provide dust and water immunity while simultaneously offering proximity detection.

The IS32CS8979 is AEC-Q100 certified and tested to automotive -40°C to +125°C temperature range, while the IS31CS8979 is tested to -40°C to +85°C industrial range. The IS32CS8979 is housed in a compact wettable flank WQFN-40, while the IS31CS8979 is packaged in a QFN-40 package.
