VR/SVR Series Switching Regulators

Image of XP Power's VR and SVR Series Switching Regulators XP Power’s 0.5 A VR05 and SVR05, 1 A VR10 and SVR10, and 2 A VR20 switching regulators provide a competitive low-cost, non-isolated point of load (POL) solution without compromising quality and performance. These switching regulators are a cost-effective means of step-down voltage conversion in a variety of ITE and industrial equipment including portable and battery-operated equipment, sensors, robotics, telecommunications, instrumentation, embedded computing, and distributed DC supply systems requiring regulation but not needing isolation.

With up to 96% efficiency, very little energy is wasted as heat so there is no need for a heatsink, which minimizes size and provides flexibility for the PCB design. Depending on the model, the VR series input range begins at 4.5 VDC and all models have a maximum input of 36 VDC. All three series have outputs of 3.3 VDC, 5.0 VDC, 9.0 VDC, 12 VDC, and 15 VDC. In addition, the VR10 has a 6.5 VDC model and the VR20 offers a 2.5 VDC version.

The VR and SVR series regulators are housed in a non-conductive UL94V-0 plastic package that is water washable for low environmental impact in the manufacturing process. Both series have excellent line/load regulation, low ripple and noise, and low quiescent current. All versions have overload protection, and the output also has continuous short-circuit protection with automatic reset.

Standards include EN55032 Class B conducted and radiated for EMC emissions (ITE) with minimal external filtering as well as EN61000-4-2,3,4,5,6 for EMC immunity. The VR and SVR series offer an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C with full power available between +40°C and +71°C, depending on the model (see datasheets for derating curves). The calculated MTBF is greater than 2 Mhrs (MIL-HDBK-217F, +25°C).
