SPDIF to RF Converter and Receiver

Does anyone know of a device or have a good design to transmit SPDIF optical over the air to a receiver and then back to SPDIF optical?

I need to transmit about 40 feet.

Thanks,

Doug

Doug, Check out TI's purepath wireless.  The eval board has on SPDIF input and a DIT4096 to convert to I2S, which you can interface to the CC85XX.  I have done this design in the past and it is a pretty nice solution.

SPDIF to RF Converter and Receiver

Years ago as an initial experiment I ran electrical SPDIF (75 ohm coaxial iirc) through a set of (800 or 900 MHz) "video extender" units and found it worked pretty well, I simply had to change a resistor on one end or the other to make the levels appropriate. The bandwidth requirement is comparable, maybe even a bit lower, than composite video.

However it cut out as soon as the microwave in the kitchen adjacent to the lab was turned on.  Cut out cleanly and resumed, but that was unacceptable in the application under consideration.
